Handling Confrontation...

The one thing we would all like to avoid. Confrontations are never easy. They can ruin relationships, hurt emotions, get you arrested and various other unfortunate outcomes. As a maturing young woman I'm seeing this as a major issue, that we all deal with. What is the proper way to handle a confrontation?! I'm far from a fighter so that's never an option. However, I am a debater and I know how to defeat my opponent. Although, I've found that my desire is never to hurt another but to have my view understood or considered. What I've found is that some people argue for the sake of being right and some argue for the sake of reconciliation. For the complications that come along with confronting another may attempt to avoid it. That never helps it only adds onto the issue because you are then building up hostility. Its true that hurt people hurt people BUT this does not have to be the case. I've found that they key to reconciliation is not being right or having the other party to agree with you but rather to compromise. Agree that yes their feelings are real to them and yours are as well. If you truly care about reconciliation its just that, reconcile not obtaining a victory. What is my desired outcome? That's what we should consider when handling confrontations. *spread the luve*

Nobody Else Can Be Me

So, as I'm reading "The Purpose Driven Life" I feel so enlightened! Some things you know but when you read them or hear them it just sets off a light bulb. This was def one of those moments! Chapter 31 of the book talks about understanding your shape. Knowing that God made each one of us individually for a UNIQUE purpose. I find that so interesting because you always hear ppl say "I'm unique" or "I'm just a unique type of person" when in actuality we are ALL unique. No two ppl have the same personality or natural gift. Now, we may be similar in certain areas but if we think about it....why would God need me if someone else has the same thing to offer the world?! Doesn't make sense. Obviously my contribution to the world is different from yours, and vice versa. Isn't that encouraging? :-D so if you ever feel like your life is useless or the world would be better off with out you....remember, God made you for a specific reason. To fill a specific void in this amazing world! Love you :-*

Surrounded by Love

We've all heard the saying "you are the company you keep" and this is so true! I find that we are defined by the people we choose to surround ourselves with. Our environment shapes our behavior, whether good or bad.

In recent months I've had to really evaluate those I chose to hang around. I've always chosen to be around good ppl but what I've realized is that though ppl may be good, they are not necessarily good for me. Some truly loved and valued my friendship and others did not. My personality has always been unique and not everyone can appreciate that. For me, my decisions were that of love. I love myself enough to only surround myself with those who loved, gave and appreciated as I did. As soon as I let go of the unneeded, amazing people came my way.

Friendship is a beautiful opportunity, and it should be handled as such. So I say to you, only surround yourself with ppl who love, enhance, complement and adore you! You are a gift, to be handled as a jewel! Love you ;-)

Investing in your mind

I was watching Mike Murdock one Sunday and he taught me one of the most important lessons ever. The importance of investing in your mind. This is something that I've heard in fly by convos, but nothing that I ever really thought about. I've loved and valued education all of my life, but to be honest....I've forgotten most of it! Mike Murdock said, I would never invest more in the clothes in my closet than what I invest on my mind. That struck something in me! Probably because I spend all my disposable income on clothes! (Smh) However, after hearing that message it changed everything. I have made up in my mind that I will feed my mind as it is my body and soul. It will take priority over ALL material desires. For this is the one thing that can not be taken from me!
Now you may spend $ on cd's, cars, electronics, etc but please remember that your mind is the nucleus of your life. Retirement, 401k, stocks and bonds are fine, but prioritize...invest in your mind. Feed it properly, read, study, learn! Love you :-)

Modern Economics

Hey guys! Sorry its been a little while since I posted....here goes another read.

I was excited to see the senate was able to come together last nite to accomplish something! (Its a miracle) Apparently legislation was passed to extend unemployment benefits and fund road projects totalling $10 Billion. This is greatly needed to simply carry over many Americans until new jobs are created. I have the link to a CNN article that goes into detail about the senate and the bill (http://m.cnn.com/primary/HqVknZ-iUjDo8zriu). Take a looksee and educate yourself on this matter.

I was talking to a good friend of mine who works for a congressman about the state of the economy, congress, republicans vs democrats, etc. It is really sad to see that our legislatures truly care more about personal gain, party affiliation and sabotage, than actually assisting their constituents. Its rather disgusting. Please understand that if the United States were really united, we would not be in the economical crisis that we are. Many bills are not passes simply because of the person introducing it. No matter if the bill could benefit millions of people or not. I love America and I truly have pity on it. I pray, we as a people can pull together, and fight for what's just. I have hope that America will rise again! A internal change will be necessary to do so!
